Download TWS from interactivebrokers.com/tws, stable channel. Run the installer and log in once manually before continuing.

○ API socket clients enabled

In TWS: Edit > Global Configuration > API > Settings. Check "Enable ActiveX and Socket Clients", uncheck "Read-Only API".

○ Risk disclosure accepted

Tick the paper trading risk box shown on first TWS login. This only appears once per installation.

○ Test connection successful

We will attempt a live API call. If it fails, check the port number matches your TWS API settings.
